TIAN, Wei

TIAN, Wei is a leading anchorwoman of China Central Television, or CCTV; and an active opinion leader from China linking China and the world.

She hosts CCTV's two flagship programs: a daily in-depth discussion program and a Sunday global debate show. As CCTV's main anchor, she has covered important domestic and international events: Beijing Olympic Games, China's 60th Anniversary, World Climate Change Summit. She has had exclusive interviews with heads of states and important international figures from all walks of life, such as: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Dr. Henry Kissinger.

She has received numerous awards, including China's National Journalism Award, National Award for International Broadcasters, and CCTV Host of the Year.

Tian Wei has been invited to host and moderate some of the world's most renowned forums: World Economic Forum in Davos, APEC Summit CEO Forum, and the Women's Forum in Deauville, France. She has also hosted many important events attended by China's top state leaders: the U.S.-China State Dinner Gala, China State Council Annual Reception, etc.

She has been actively involved on issues of human development, poverty alleviation, and gender equality. She is honored by the United Nations Development Program as the China Special Advisor. She is also the "Young Global Leader", a title awarded by the Davos Economic Forum.

Before joining CCTV, she worked in Washington DC as a correspondent, the only female Washington correspondent from China at the time. From there, she also covered the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Prior to that, Tian Wei worked in radio broadcasting. She founded China's first foreign language radio talk show program.

Tian speaks excellent English and Mandarin Chinese.
