JEAN-MARC F. BLANCHARD

DR. JEAN-MARC F. BLANCHARD (白永辉) is Professor with the School of International and Public Affairs at Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU), Assistant to the Dean for International Cooperation and Exchange, Director of the SJTU Center for the Study of Multinational Corporations, and Associate Director of the San Francisco State University Center for U.S.-China Policy Studies. He also is President of the Association of Chinese Political Studies, a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Chinese Political Science and 香港国际研究月刊, and a member of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations. His research interests include Chinese outward foreign direct investment, inward foreign direct investment into China, Chinese foreign economic policy, Chinese foreign energy policy, multinational corporations, the political economy of national security (incentives and sanctions), and globalization. He is a co-author of The Politics of Economic Sanctions and Incentives (London: Routledge, forthcoming 2013), a co-editor of and contributor to Governance, Domestic Change and Social Policy in China: 100 Years After the Xinhai Revolution (Palgrave MacMillan, forthcoming 2013); New Thinking about The Taiwan Issue: Theoretical Insights into Its Origins, Dynamics, and Prospects (Routledge, 2012), Multidimensional Diplomacy of Contemporary China (Rowman & Littlefield, 2010), Harmonious World and China's New Foreign Policy (Rowman & Littlefield, 2008), and Power and the Purse: Economic Statecraft, Interdependence, and National Security (Frank Cass, 2000), and the author of nearly three dozen book chapters and refereed journal articles. in publications such as Geopolitics, Foreign Policy Analysis, Security Studies, Asia Politics & Policy, China Quarterly, China Journal of International Politics, and the Journal of Contemporary China. Dr. Blanchard received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and A.B. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to his career in academia, Dr. Blanchard worked for the U.S. government Federal Savings & Loan Insurance Corporation and Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and for the investment banking firm Kelling, Northcross, & Nobriga.
