BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- China's central government will stick to the policy of "one country, two systems" on Hong Kong and Macao affairs, top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng said Monday.

Central authorities will continue to support the administration of chief executives and governments of the two special administrative regions, said Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), while addressing a reception to mark the National Day, which falls on Oct. 1.

Central authorities will strengthen exchanges and cooperation between inland areas and Hong Kong and Macao to promote the two regions' development in all fields, he said.

Peaceful development of relations between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan will be promoted on the political basis of adherence to the 1992 Consensus and opposition to Taiwan independence, Yu said.

The government will continue to support and serve Chinese people living overseas and protect their rights and interests, he said.
