Foreign Exchange

Currently, the Chinese Yuan (RMB) does not circulate outside China. For non-Chinese participants, you may change money when you arrive at the international airport. For your convenience, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) will provide Foreign Exchange service at Shanghai Administration Institute between 12:00—13:30 on the afternoon of Sept. 17th, 2012.
In the course of registration, you will receive a Forex Application Form and an envelope. You need to fill in the Forex Application Form with your signature, write on the envelope your name, passport number, currency unit and volume to be exchanged. The staff from ICBC will come to collect your Forex Application Form, envelope and the money (US dollar and Euro only). The changed Chinese Yuan (RMB) will be sent back to you on the evening of the same day.
The remaining Chinese Yuan can be changed back at the International Airport when you leave China. Therefore, you need to keep the exchange receipts. Major credit cards (American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa) are accepted at major shops, restaurants in China. ATM and depositing machines are also available.
