CPPCC vice chairman meets with Chinese medical aid team to Algeria

ALGIERS, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Wang Gang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Thursday met here with members of Chinese medical aid team to Algeria.

Wang said that the Chinese medical aid team to Algeria, as the first medical aid team send to the African countries, has made remarkable contributions to promoting the traditional friendship of Chinese and Algerian peoples. He encouraged the medical team members to make further efforts to serve the Algerian people and improve the local medical condition.

The Chinese medical aid team to Algeria has been sent by Chinese government since 1963. In the past 48 years, the medical team has conducted more than 1.4 million surgeries of all kinds, treated 230 million person-time outpatient service, and hospitalized 1.7 million person-time in the Northern African country, which is highly hailed by the Algeria government and people.
