Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai Delivers a Written Speech at the Fourth Plenary Session of the Fifth Committee of CCRP in Beijing

On March 7^th, the fourth plenary session of the fifth committee of CCRP was held in Beijing. Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai, Vice President of the National Committee of the CPPCC, and President of CCRP, delivered a written speech. Guo Jun, member of the Party Leadership Group of the working organs of the National Committee of the CPPCC, attended the meeting. Deng Zongliang, Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the National Committee of the CPPCC, and Executive Vice President of CCRP, presided over the meeting. Vice Presidents of CCRP, Li Guangfu, Yang Faming, Fang Xingyao, Ma Yinglin, Xu Xiaohong, Wu Wei, Pasonglie Longzhuangmuang, and Zhang Fenglin attended. CCRP’s 2021 work summary and 2022 work priorities were reported during the meeting.

Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai pointed out in his speech that CCRP focused on China’s diplomatic work and the central tasks of the National Committee of the CPPCC in 2021, overcame the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and successfully completed the main tasks of the year, forming a new landscape of foreign affairs work. CCRP must thoroughly deliberate on and practice the spirit of the 19^th CPC National Congress and plenary sessions of 19^th CPC Central Committee; study and understand Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and the General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at National Religious Work Conference; adhere to sinicization of religions, resolutely defend China’s core interests; safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests; convey China’s principles, positions, philosophies, and propositions; and tell China’s story to the world in languages that foreigners can understand and in ways that are easily accepted. CCRP is committed to further enhancing the right to speak in the international and inter-religious world, and ushering in the 20^th CPC National Congress.

Guo Jun emphasized in his speech that CCRP should adhere to the Party’s overall leadership, strengthen Party building based on its own nature and realities, take the initiative to map out in foreign affairs, and play an active role in creating a favorable external environment for China’s development.

In his concluding speech, Deng Zongliang emphasized that CCRP should study, convey and implement the spirit of the National People’s Congress and the CPPCC, and implement instructions of the National Committee of the CPPCC. Besides, CCRP should improve the awareness and capability of members to perform duties, thus promoting CCRP work to the next level. (Correspondent Wang Tian’ao)
