CCRP's Statement on the Harmony among Different Religions

Pope Benedict XVI 's imputation against Islam and the Prophet Mohammed during his speech on September 12th has brought not only injuries to the feelings of all Chinese Muslims, but also bad influences to Chinese religious circle. Chinese religious circle hereby expresses highly concern and strong denunciation to it.

It is human being's common goal to pursuit peace, security and harmony. World's various religions including Islam all enjoy long histories and widespread influences with the common teaching of equality, peaceful co-existence, confronting violence, compassion and universal fraternity.

Although the Roman side already has the gesture of apology to world muslims, in order to avoid this kind of incidence happening again, we appeal for equal dialogue, mutual respect and peaceful co-existence among different civilizations and faiths in light of the principles of friendship, peace, development and cooperation. Any words or behaviors inciting civilizational antagonism, religious conflicts or ethnic disputes should be considered severe betrayal of religious wisdom.
