September 10, 2009, the first plenary session of the third committee of CCRP convened in Beiing. Jia Qinglin, member of the standing committee of the Political Bureau of Central Committee of the CPC and Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC met and addressed members present at the meeting. Wang Gang, member of the Political Bureau of Central Committee of the CPC and Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, and Du Qinglin, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC and Minister of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Qian Yunlu, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the National Committee of the CPPCC, was present at the meeting. Jia Qinglin conveyed his warm congratulations to the newly-elected CCRP leaders, and sincere greetings and nice wishes to the religious believers of the entire country. He said, with the support of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council and under the leadership of the CPPCC, CCRP, inheriting and carrying forward the fine traditions of patriotism, loving religions and worshiping peace, has got remarkable progress in foreign exchanges through promoting cooperation with religious circles and relevant organizations in other countries, actively publicizing the policy and real situation of religious belief in our country, seeking consensus and making friends broadly.
Speaking to the work of CCRP, Jia emphasized that CCRP would, in the light of the principles of friendship, peace, development and cooperation, learn earnestly the important speech addressed by Hu Jintao, the Secretary-General of the CPC, did a research in Xin Jiang, adhere to focusing on the central tasks and serving the overall interests, carry out tasks pragmatically and effectively and provide wisdom and force to promote foreign exchanges of China’s religious community and safeguard ethnic unity, religious harmony, social stability and national reunification. He asked this new committee of CCRP for three tasks. First, CCRP should learn and carry out the basic principles of religious work of the CPC in an all-round manner, and adapt the thought and action to the spirit of the CPC Central Committee. Second, CCRP should carry out foreign exchanges actively and prudently, and strengthen and enlarge unceasingly the influence of our religious circles in the world. Third, CCRP should strengthen its own construction and nurture a foreign work team with high quality for religious circles.
It is expressed in the speech delivered by Wang Gang that CCRP should acknowledge the significance of its work, and bear in mind more sense of responsibility and mission in order to contribute to reform and opening-up and socialist modernization, and to play active role in maintaining world peace and promoting common development. CCRP should, focusing the central tasks of the CPC and the state and carrying forward the fine traditions of patriotism, loving religions and serving society, encourage the initiative and creativity of religious believers to develop industry, improve life and become rich, and make contribution to the fast and sound development of economy and society. CCRP should, focusing on the overall interests of social stability firmly, make efforts to advocate harmony and unity among religious groups, religious believers and non-believers, and make new contributions to build a harmonious religious relation in the socialist society. CCRP should, focusing on the overall plan of the national diplomacy firmly, carry out foreign exchanges with plan and emphasis and make new contributions to broadening foreign exchanges of our country through making use of international platform to advocate the policy of freedom of religious belief and display the real situation of religious harmony in our country.
Du Qinglin addressed that, facing new circumstances and tasks, CCRP should improve initiative while summarizing the past achievements, enhance influence and affinity while advocating traditions, safeguard the national unification and ethnic unity consistently while opposing separatism and build fine image of religious circles in our country while strengthening foreign exchanges.
Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC and the newly-elected President of the third committee of CCRP and Bishop Ding Guangxun, also newly-elected Honorary President of third committee of CCRP, issued written speeches.
