Yu Zhengsheng met delegates attending the 1st Plenary Session of the 4th Committee of the CCRP

September 16th, the 1st Plenary Session of the 4th Committee of the CCRP was opened in Beijing .Yu Zhengsheng, standing member of Central Political Bureau of the CPC and chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC met all delegates and delivered speeches.

Yu congratulated on the opening of the meeting and the new leadership of CCRP, and also sincerely expressed his greeting to all religious figures and believers in the whole country. He said: “as a national organization on behalf of China’s religious circles to attend international religious activities,  during the past decades since its establishment, CCRP has increasingly enlarged its influence in Religions for Peace and Asian Conference on Religion and Peace, safeguarded China’s core interests, help to explain the real situation of China’s religions and done plenty of efficient works for national unification,  ethnic unity, religious harmony, and world peace and development, under the principles of friendship, peace, development and cooperation.”

"The main purpose of the organization is to promote peace worldwide through strengthening exchanges with international religious and peace organizations, introducing actively China’s policies on religion and helping international society to understand China’s policies on religion." said Yu Zhengsheng. He stressed that, CCRP should serve as an important bridge between religious figures and believers and governments, and play more particular role as important platform of the CPPCC to undertake foreign exchanges. Meanwhile, CCRP should perfect its own functions and structures in order to improve efficiency.

Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC, President of the third Committee of CCRP was re-elected President of the new session and addressed written speech.

Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the CPPCC Zhang Qingli attended this meeting. He said: “the new leaders of CCRP should coordinate work on domestic and international affairs, bear traditions in mind, make innovation in the future, and pushing forward all works of CCRP continuously.”

Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Du Qinglin and Ling Jihua were present at the meeting and met all delegates. Vice Chairman Wang Zhengwei and Ma Biao took part in the meeting, and some leaders from The United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee, International Department of the CPC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Civil Affairs, State Administration of Religious Affairs and other departments also attended this meeting.

The fourth session of CCRP has 123 members, among which there are 107 religious ones, accounting for 87%.
