Written Speech by President Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai in the First Plenary Session of the Third Committee of CCRP

Honorable leaders, committee members,

The First Plenary Session of the Third Committee of CCRP was held successfully today. The meeting has reviewed work by CCRP in the past five years, clarified the direction in the future, and produced the new leadership of CCRP. I am grateful to you for electing me as the president of the third committee of CCRP and regretful for my absence for other official businesses today. I would like to express my deep apology to all present.

Today, Mr.Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met all the members present and made an important speech. Chairman Jia spoke highly of the work by CCRP and expressed his hopes to the future of CCRP. Wang Gang, member of the Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, and Du QingLin, vice chairman of CPPCC, were also present and made speeches, testifying the close attention and great support paid by CPC Central Committee and the Government to CCRP. We should conscientiously study and profoundly understand the spirit in the speech of Jia and other leaders' speeches, and implement it in our practical work in the future.

Since its establishment fifteen years ago, under the leadership of the CPPCC, the support from related apartments of CPC and the Government and religious groups, CCRP launched foreign contact representing Chinese religious circles and believers, participated in the World Peace Movement, and came through a divine process. From the First Plenary Session of the Second Committee, CCRP has seriously implemented Chairman Jia's instructions, uphold the principles, expanded the publicity, made friends far and wide, and made positive contributions in enhancing the unity of the country, safeguarding the core interests, and resisting foreign religious infiltrations and promoting the world peace, CCRP winning respect and position for our religious circles in the world religious peace movement, becoming an important platform of CPPCC and an important force of our religious circles in foreign contact, as well, summarizing precious experience and laying solid foundation for CCRP itself.

Here, I pay my great respect to the staff members of the Second Committee headed by Rev. Bishop Ding GuangXun for their fruitful efforts.

At this moment, we recalled the Chairman of the First Committee, initiator of CCRP, Scholar Zhao PuChu. Scholar Zhao PuChu and Rev. Bishop Ding GuangXun dedicated themselves into the career of leading Chinese religious circles to participate actively in the world religious peace movement and creating new situations of Chinese religious peace career, and left precious spiritual legacy to the continuous development of CCRP. We should seriously study and vigorously carry on their spirit.

Our religious work is in the best period now in history, when the five religions get along in harmony, work in cooperation, and play a more and more important role actively in safeguarding the ethic unity and social stability, constructing the harmonious society and promoting the economic social development.

Benevolence, protection to our country, interests to our people, and world peace are common wishes of all religions in our country, and obligatory sacred missions of CCRP. Each one of us religious believers should rally closely around CPC Central Committee and the government, dedicate ourselves into the great career of safeguarding social stability and world peace, and promote the outer peace through inner peace, and the world harmony through religious harmony.

As an important platform of foreign contact of the CPPCC, CCRP and its new committee will shoulder heavier responsibilities. Facing complex situations in the foreign contact, we should act in compliance with the requirements of the Party and the government, depend closely upon members of CCRP and the religious groups under the leadership of the CPPCC, strengthen study, do solid work and cooperate to innovate and create new situations. Let us inspire ourselves, work together and advance the Chinese religious peace career forward day by day.
