Ngapoi Ngawang Jigme, male, Tibetan nationality, a native of Lhasa, Tibet, born in February 1910.

1936 - 1959  Served in local Tibetan government as grain official, civil magistrate and auditor in Qamdo Prefecture and as Qamdo administrator and Kaloon (council minister), and served as vice-chairman of Liberation Committee of Qamdo Prefecture

1951  Went of Beijing, as local Tibetan government's chief representative, to negotiate and sign the Agreement on Measure for Peaceful Liberation of Tibet with representatives of Central People's Government  

1952 - 1959  First deputy commander of Tibet Military Area Command (with the rank of  lieutenant general), preparatory division chief, secretary-general and vice-chairman of Preparatory Committee of Tibet Autonomous Region, and member of National Defense Council

1959 - 1964  Vice chairman of CPPCC National Committee, vice chairman and concurrently secretary-general of Preparatory Committee of Tibet Autonomous Region, deputy commander of Tibet Military Area Command, and member of National Defense Council

1964 - 1965  Vice-chairman of Standing Committee of National People's Congress (NPC), acting chairman of Preparatory Committee of Tibet Autonomous Region, deputy commander of Tibet Military Area Command, and member of National Defense Council

1965 - 1979  Vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee, chairman of People's Committee and vice-chairman of Revolutionary Committee of Tibet Autonomous Region, and deputy commander of Tibet Military Area Command

1979 - 1981  Vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee, chairman of NPC Ethnic Affairs Subcommittee, chairman of Standing Committee of Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress and deputy commander of Tibet Military Area Command

1981 - 1983  Vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee, chairman of NPC Ethnic Affairs Subcommittee, chairman of People's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region and deputy commander of Tibet Military Area Command

1983 - 1987  Vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee, chairman of NPC Ethnic Affairs Subcommittee, chairman of Standing Committee of Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress and deputy commander of Tibet Military Area Command

1987 - 1993  Vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee, chairman of NPC Ethnic Affairs Subcommittee and chairman of Standing Committee of Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress

1993 - present  Vice-chairman of CPPCC National Committee

He was a member of 1st CPPCC National Committee, vice-chairman of 3rd, 8th and 9th CPPCC National Committees; a deputy to 1st to 7th NPCs, vice-chairman of 3rd to 7th NPC Standing Committees, and chairman of Ethnic Affairs Subcommittees of 5th to 7th NPC Standing Committees.
