Wang Xuan

Wang Xuan, male, Han nationality, a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, born in February 1937; a member of Jiu San Society; began working in September 1958; a graduate from Mathematical Mechanics Department of Peking University with a major in computational mathematics, a professor and an academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

1954 - 1958  Student at Mathematical Mechanics Department of Peking University, majoring in computational mathematics

1958 - 1959  Teacher at Mathematical Mechanics Department, Peking University

1959 - 1978  Teacher at Department of Radio Engineering, Peking University

1978 - 1995  Director of Institute of Computer Science & Technology (ICST), associate professor and professor, of Peking University

1995 - 1996  Vice-chairman of Central Committee of Jiu San Society, ICST director and chairman of Board of Directors of Founder Holdings Limited, of Peking University

1996 - 1998  Vice-chairman of Central Committee of Jiu San Society, vice-president of China Association for Science and Technology, ICST director and chairman of Board of Directors of Founder Holdings Limited, of Peking University

1998 - present  Vice-chairman of Education, Science, Culture and Health Subcommittee of 9th NPC, vice-chairman of Central Committee of Jiu San Society, vice-president of China Association for Science and Technology, ICST director of Peking University
 
He was a member of 8th CPPCC National Committee, member of 9th NPC Standing Committee and vice-chairman of Education, Science, Culture and Health Subcommittee of 9th NPC Standing Committee
 
He passed away on February 13, 2006.
