Chen Shutong

Chen Shutong (1876-1966), styled himself Jing'di, a native of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, member of the Imperial Academy, participated in the Reform Movement of 1898. In 1904 he studied political science and law in Japan. In 1906 he returned home and served as member of the Consultative Council of the Qing government. After the Revolution of 1911, he served as member of the House of Representatives for the first term. He participated in the wars against Yuan Shikai and to defend the constitution. In 1915 he became member of the board of directors of Shanghai Commercial Press. After 1927, he served as member of the board of directors and director of the General Manager's Office of Zhejiang Industrial Bank. During the anti-Japanese war, he supported the movement against Japan and for national salvation. In 1941 he refused to serve as chairman of Shanghai Municipal Peace Preservation Association, a puppet organization supported by Japanese invaders. Before the victory in the anti-Japanese war, he took an active part in preparing to organize Shanghai Municipal Federation of Mass Organizations from All Circles and the patriotic democratic movement. In September 1949 he attended the First Plenary Session of the First Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). After the founding of new China, he served as member of the Central People's Government, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the First, Second and Third National People's Congress (NPC), Vice-Chairman of the First, Second, Third and Fourth CPPCC National Committees and Chairman of the First, Second and Third Executive Committees of All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce (ACFIC).
 
 

 Hu Zi¡¯ang

Hu Zi¡¯ang (1897-1991), also called Hu Heru, a native of Chongqing City, graduated from the Department of Agricultural Economy of Beijing Agricultural University in 1923. In 1926 he served as Director of Chongqing Municipal Education Bureau. In 1928 he served as chief of the Border Affairs Division of Chengdu Sichuan-Xikang Frontier General Headquarters. In 1932 he served as technician and general affairs chief of Jiangxi Agricultural College. In 1933 he served as Manager of Chongqing Huaxi Company and the Running Water Company and General Manager of China Xingye Company. In 1943 he served as Director of Sichuan Provincial Department of Construction, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Chongqing Huakang Bank, chairman of the guidance committee of Chongqing Chinese Vocational Education Association, speaker of Chongqing municipal assembly, member of the National Political Council and member of the Legislative Yuan of the National Government. In September 1949 he attended the First Plenary Session of the Chinese People¡¯s Political Consultative Conference. In the same year he joined China Democratic National Construction Association (CDNCA). After the founding of the People¡¯s Republic of China, he served as member of Southwest China Military and Administrative Commission and Southwest China Financial and Economic Committee, director of Southwest China Office of the CDNCA, Vice-Mayor of Chongqing City, vice-chairman of Chongqing municipal CPPCC committee, vice-chairman of Sichuan provincial CPPCC committee and Chairman of the Board of China Industrial and Commercial Economic Development Corporation. From February 1978 to 1991, he served as Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC. He was member of the Standing Committee of the Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth NPC, member of the Second, Third and Fourth CPPCC National Committees and Vice-Chairman of the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh CPPCC National Committees. He was Vice-Chairman of the First, Second, Third and Fourth CDNCA Central Committees. He was Vice-Chairman of the First, Second and Third ACFIC Executive Committees, Chairman of the Fourth ACFIC Executive Committee, Chairman of the Fifth ACFIC Executive Committee and Honorary Chairman of the Sixth ACFIC Executive Committee.
 
 

 Rong Yiren

Rong Yiren was born on May 1, 1916, a native of Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. After he graduated from the Department of History of Shanghai St. John¡¯s University, he served as assistant and Manager of Wuxi Maoxin Flour Company, member of the board of directors of Shanghai Hefeng Enterprise Company, member of the board of directors and Manager of Shanghai Sanxin Bank and member of Shanghai No. 4 District Flour Industry Guild Association. After 1950, he served as General Manager of the General Management Division of Shanghai Shenxin Textile Printing and Dyeing Company and member of the Financial and Economic Committee of East China Military and Administrative Council. In 1957 he served as Vice-Mayor of Shanghai City, Vice-Chairman of Shanghai municipal council of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Vice-Chairman of Shanghai municipal federation of industry and commerce. After 1959, he served as Vice-Minister of Textile Industry. From February 1978 to June 1983, he served as Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC. After 1979, he served as Chairman of the Board and General Manager of China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC) and adviser to the State Import and Export Management Committee and the State Foreign Investment Management Committee. After 1983, he served as Vice-Chairman of Soong Ching Ling Foundation, member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Basic Law Drafting Committee and Chairman of the Board of Jinan University. From March 1993 to March 1998, he served as Vice-President of the People¡¯s Republic of China. He was deputy to the First, Second and Third NPC, member of the Standing Committee of the Fourth and Fifth NPC and Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Sixth and Seventh NPC. He was member of the Second CPPCC National Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the Third and Fourth CPPCC National Committees and Vice-Chairman of the Fifth CPPCC National Committee. He was Vice-Chairman of the First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth ACFIC Executive Committees and Chairman of the Sixth ACFIC Executive Committee. He was executive member of the First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Central Committees of China Democratic National Construction Association (CDNCA).
 
 

 Jing Shuping

Jing Shuping, born in Shanghai in July 1918, a native of Shangyu County, is member of China Democratic National Construction Association (CDNCA). He serves as Chairman of the Board of China Minsheng Banking Corporation, executive member of the board of directors of China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC), member of the National Social Security Fund Council, Chairman of the Chinese Health Express Foundation, Chairman of the Foundation for International Strategic Studies, Vice-Chairman of Taiwan Studies Society, adviser to the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS), honorary chairman of China Overseas Friendship Association and honorary chairman of China Pacific Economic Cooperation Committee.

In 1939 he graduated from Shanghai St. John's University. From 1939 to 1942, he served as Deputy Manager of Shanghai Xinzhong Industrial Factory. From 1942 to 1956, he served as Deputy Manager and Manager of Shanghai Huaming Cigarette Factory, Manager of Shanghai Huacheng Cigarette Factory, chairman of Shanghai Cigarette Industry Guild Association, deputy secretary-general of Shanghai municipal committee of China Democratic National Construction Association (CDNCA), deputy secretary-general of Shanghai municipal federation of industry and commerce and deputy secretary-general of Shanghai municipal CPPCC committee. After 1957, he served as deputy secretary-general of All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce (ACFIC). After 1978, he served as General Manager of the Real Estate Department of the CITIC, Deputy General Manager of the CITIC, Chairman of the Board of China International Economic and Technical Cooperation Consultants Corporation, special adviser to the State Foreign-funded Enterprise Management Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade, member of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Preparatory Committee and member of the Macao Special Administrative Region Basic Law Drafting Committee. He was executive member, member of the Standing Committee and Vice-Chairman of ACFIC. He was Chairman of the Seventh and Eighth ACFIC Executive Committees. He was member of the Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth CPPCC National Committees, member of the Standing Committee of the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth CPPCC National Committees, Deputy Secretary-General of the Eighth CPPCC National Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Subcommittee of Economy of the Eighth CPPCC National Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Ninth CPPCC National Committee.

 
 

 Huang Mengfu

Huang Mengfu, male, Han nationality, born in January 1944, a native of Shanghai City, member of China Democratic National Construction Association (CDNCA) and the Communist Party of China (CPC), began to work in September 1967. He graduated from the speciality of iron and steel metallurgy in the Department of Metallurgy of Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Engineering. He is an undergraduate and senior engineer. He is Vice-Chairman of the Tenth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of the ACFIC Executive Committee.

From 1962 to 1968, he studied in Beijing Institute of Iron and Steel Engineering. From 1968 to 1992, he worked in Nanjing Steelworks of Jiangsu Province. He served as a worker, workshop section chief, technician, engineer, deputy section chief and deputy factory director of the branch factory. In 1988 he served as deputy factory director and senior engineer. From 1992 to 1998, he worked in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province and served as Vice-Mayor of the city, chairman of the Nanjing municipal CDNCA committee, vice-chairman and chairman of Jiangsu provincial CDNCA and Vice-Chairman of the CDNCA Central Committee. From 1998 to 2001, he worked in Jiangsu provincial people's congress and served as vice-chairman of Jiangsu provincial people's congress, Vice-Chairman of the CDNCA Central Committee and chairman of Jiangsu provincial CDNCA committee and Nanjing municipal CDNCA committee. In 2001 he was elected Vice-Chairman of ACFIC Executive Committee. In 2001 he worked in the ACFIC. In November 2002 he was elected Chairman of the ACFIC Executive Committee. In 2003 he was elected Vice-Chairman of the Tenth CPPCC National Committee. He was member of the Eighth CPPCC National Committee and member of the Standing Committee of the Ninth CPPCC National Committee.
