We, your colleagues from the China Economic and Social Council (CESC), are honoured to host the International Summer School 2012 in Shanghai, China in accordance with the decision of AICESIS General Assembly. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all.

This Summer School from September 16 to 22 will focus on the theme: The ESCs and sustainable development, a crucial issue of universal interest and concern. The concept of sustainable development is the core value embedded in the culture of ESCs/ISs and their daily work. You, as youth leaders of the big AICESIS family, are today helping shape the future of the world by promoting and facilitating the concept and practice of sustainable development. This is the mission of the AICESIS and its success counts on all of us.

China is a dynamic country and Shanghai is a perfect example to be called as a romantic and charming city. Let’s join hands in hands in this summer school in Shanghai, working together, learning together and celebrating together. We are expected to exchange, share and contribute the best practices and experiences for sustainable development in different countries. Our new learning and contributions will be added to the common assets of the family of AICESIS.

It is our hope that you will find the learning experience really exciting and rewarding. The courses are carefully designed with emphasis on participatory approach and inter-actions. The fascinating speakers from different backgrounds will be invited to join us. Extracurricular activities will be organized to enable you to see more of this city and country.
